It Could Have Been Worse

We decided to take a few days off from our trip and stay in Utah. We stayed at the townhouse in Provo for the first two nights.
By now AJ has gotten pretty used to sleeping in a pack and play.
Rebecca and Keith were so fun to spend time with again. We even had a big BBQ with a lot of our good friends from Provo. It was so good to see everyone. I even got to make my orange creamsicle cupcakes. They were a big hit!
AJ even had a few friends to play with. The little girls from next door came over and just adored him. He didn't mind the attention.
Keith and Rebecca gave AJ a late birthday gift.
I don't know how many of you have read "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" by Richard Scarry, but we love it and they got him that book along with the "Best Word Book Ever".  Thank you for such a fun gift.
Thank you Keith and Rebecca for being such wonderful hosts. We had a blast at your house and can't wait to visit you in Rhode Island.
It was time to head a little further north. We were planning on staying at my parents for a night and then making the last small drive to Boise the next day. First we had to pick up our trailer so we could get a few things from around the valley to furnish our apartment in Boise. We were getting a few things in Provo, a few in Eagle Mountain, and a few from Sandy. Well, we got to the Uhaul store and we couldn't leave with our trailer because our electric connection wasn't working. We rushed to the dealership to get it fixed. All of the electricians were gone for the evening so we had a bunch of service guys looking at it trying to get it all worked out. They couldn't do anything, so we weighed our options: leave a few days late and wait for the part we needed, go to idaho without our furniture for a week, or convince my dad to let us use his car... that was our best option, off to Sandy.
We packed up the car and made it about as far as American Fork when I noticed that the door ajar light was on for the back hatch. I pulled over and Joe got out to close it. I waited in the car and then heard a giant CRASH!!! What just happened?!?!?! Well, I guess things had shifted a little and our TV and stroller weren't quite in the right place and they went straight through the window as Joe closed it. Frustrated, we drove the rest of the way to my parents' house hoping nothing would fly out the back.
Here is the major damage!
We cleaned up all the glass with a lot of help from Potts. Joe made an appointment for later that afternoon to get the window fixed. In the meantime Joe and I took my dad's car back to provo to pick up the trailer, again. We got it, but our electric connection wasn't the right type so we had to find an adaptor to buy, but soon enough we were on our way. We wanted to pick up the crib from the Provo storage unit and we had a little time before we needed to be back to take the car in to get the window fixed. We got there and couldn't get the key to turn. It fit into the lock, but wouldn't turn. We thought, well maybe it is just too weathered, or maybe it is jammed... oh no. We had the wrong key. So in a rush we came down to Provo for nothing. We didn't have time to go find the right key so we just left to go back to Sandy for the 2nd time that day.
Joe made it just in time to fix the window. It only took an hour or so and it was back to new. One thing down 20 more to go.
Good as new!
This whole time we were running around like crazies my mom was a life saver and took care of AJ for us. I can only imagine how much worse it would be if we had to take him everywhere with us.
He loved playing outside with the cousins.
Finally we had enough time to take the trailer back to Provo. Des offered to stay back with the kids while Mike came with us to load furniture. Thank you both so much!We stopped in Eagle Mountain to pick up some stuff from David and Katie, got the crib and bikes from Provo and then made it back to Sandy just before it got dark. Right as we decided to finish loading the trailer and the car it started to pour rain. Never the less we got it all done. Packed up and ready to go! I guess things were running far to smoothly. We had to run into a bump somewhere on this trip. I just hope that is the last group of  bumps we have to deal with for a while. And now, off to Boise, ID.

  1. Life is an adventure! It will all come together smoothly...in the mean time look at it as good blogging material.
