Fun with the Fairbank Family: Our Last Spring Break!

I can't believe that school is nearly over. We are finally almost finished with the perpetual student time of our lives. That being said, I will miss all the built in holidays. Spring break being the biggest. So since it was our last big break we decided to take a trip with some good friends.
We started our break off with a trip a weekend early to go to the temple. We are always so blessed to have the Mumford watch our kids. We will really miss having them around! Papa John, we love how sweet you are with our boys.

2 of our greatest friend-families were hitting up the temple that day as well. They trade off watching each others kids, so we all decided to go to the zoo to keep the kids busy. The three bigger boys loved it!

Andy liked it too, but for totally different reasons.

AJ had the hardest time deciding what animal to go on. There were so many to choose from.

The Law men had a bit of Bar Application stuff to complete so we spent the first part of spring break at home while they did their busy work. I spent the time going place to place getting ready for our fun adventure!

Soon it was time to have a bit of fun though! We decided to keep it simple this year and just tour the good ol' state of Virginia. We really wanted to spend some good time with a couple of our favorite families from Law school before we split paths so we did a bit of road tripping together to fill our canteen before the great no friend famine.
Our first day we went to Richmond to see the Civil War stuff. It was pretty fun for us, but lets face it...museums and lots small children don't mix very well. We spent what time we could and then took a fun walk across the river on a giant bridge. AJ was so excited. Once we got to the other side we stopped to throw rocks in the river, every little boy's favorite pastime.

After Richmond we headed to Williamsburg and Jamestown. We found a little resort where we could get rooms next to each other. We stayed 2 days and enjoyed a swim and some time visiting and learning in Jamestown. Sad to say it was really cold. We did the best we could to enjoy it all, but we really had to rush our way through. I thought Spring Break was suppose to warm up...

The next day we drove out to Virginia Beach to visit a good friend and enjoy a bit of the scenery there as well. We first hit up the aquarium. It was super fun! So much cool stuff to see.

And AJ was fascinated with EVERYTHING and just loved being with his friends.

I absolutely love these ladies and will miss them terribly when school is over.

Although it was cold we were determined to enjoy ourselves and what Virginia Beach had to offer...that may not have been the best idea. Next we tried the beach. It was an epic fail; tears from everyone including me. We came, we saw the beach, and we were all so pooped and freezing that we headed home an afternoon early. Road trips with small children are not as fun one may expect.
